Genesis Church exists to know Christ and to make Him known, and we believe that God is leading us to bring that mission to Charlevoix. 
 
Jim and Rhonda Desmond have seen firsthand the impact a new church can have on a community and the people within it. Their lives and many around them were forever changed when they found and understood the love of Christ through a newly planted church. Now they have been called to share that hope. Jim is a pastor, builder, entrepreneur, actor, and former world-class dancer who, 20 years ago, along with his wife, Rhonda, committed his life to Christ. He and Rhonda have led several ministries including college, drama, small groups, and marriage ministries. They invite you to discover the wonders and peace of living for Christ in a modern, ever changing, fast-paced, and sometimes confusing world.
 
Our vision is to create a new church that is:
 
CHRIST-CENTERED:  

Jesus is the perfect example of how we are to live our lives. Choosing to live through Christ’s teachings, and treating one another with love, empathy, and compassion can change our world. Our desire is to see each other through the eyes of God, our Creator.

COMMUNITY-FOCUSED:

Our goal is to be outward-focused, seeking to be of service to the community and a blessing to those around us, neighbor to neighbor. We envision sharing meals together, supporting each other, praying together, playing together, and serving Charlevoix.

COMMITTED TO TRANSFORMATION:

Have you wondered how to face life’s challenges with exhilaration? We believe in the transformative power of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to utilize God’s word to guide the disillusioned, the seeking, and even the faithful toward a life of direction, joy, and anticipation of His plan. Discover who you are in God’s eyes!

CREATIVELY ENGAGED:
We intend to integrate innovative methods to bring the life-giving message of Christ to our world. Technology, music, theater, dance, athletics, and other outreach initiatives will play a key role in how we impact the town of Charlevoix. 
 
Starting a new congregation is considered the single most effective way to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and inspires the renewal and revival of existing churches in any city. Thank you so much for prayerfully considering supporting this effort!
